This Privacy Policy explains how EdgePanel collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information when you use the app.

EdgePanel is a screen-assist and productivity app that can:

  • Display an overlay on top of other apps.
  • Capture screenshots when you explicitly request screen analysis.
  • Accept voice input when you use microphone features.
  • Send your prompts and screenshots to an AI provider to generate responses.
  • Store some preferences and optional history locally on your device.

We design the app so that screen capture, microphone use, and any retained history are driven by user actions and the settings you choose.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

  • Text prompts and queries you type into the app.
  • Voice transcripts created when you use the app's microphone or speech input features.
  • Content from screenshots you explicitly capture for screen-aware assistance.
  • Feedback, support requests, or other information you choose to send to us.

Device and app information

  • Device model and Android version.

  • Permission status for features such as microphone, overlay, and screen capture.

Account information

Purchase and entitlement data

3. How We Use Information

  • Provide the app's core features.

  • Improve stability, debug errors, and maintain the app.

  • Sync account state, restore access on a signed-in account, and mirror purchase entitlements.

4. Screenshots and Screen Content

The app can capture screenshots only when you initiate that action through the app's user flow and grant the required screen capture permission.

Screenshots may include content visible on your screen at the moment of capture, including potentially sensitive or personal information. By using the screenshot feature, you instruct the app to process that content for the requested response.

  • Screenshots may be discarded immediately after processing.
  • Screenshots may be retained temporarily during the current session.
  • You may clear cached screenshots through the app's privacy settings.

5. Voice Input

If you use voice features, the app may access the microphone to capture speech and convert it to text.

Your audio may be processed by the speech recognition service available on your device. That service may be provided by the device manufacturer, Google, or another provider depending on your device configuration and installed services. Their processing of audio is governed by their own privacy policies.

We do not use microphone access for background recording.

6. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share information only as needed to provide the app or as required by law.

AI processing provider

When you submit a prompt or screenshot for analysis, the app sends that content to Google's Gemini API to generate a response.

This means your text, prompt history related to the request, and screenshot content may be transmitted to Google for processing and may be handled according to Google's applicable terms and privacy policies.

Device speech recognition provider

If you use voice input, speech content may be handled by the speech recognition service on your device.

Firebase and Google Play

When you sign in or use paid features, the app may send account, authentication, Firestore, and purchase-related data to Google Firebase and Google Play services to provide sign-in, cloud sync, purchase restoration, and entitlement handling.

We may disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect the rights, property, or safety of the app, our users, or others.

7. Third-Party Services

The app may depend on third-party services, libraries, or APIs. Their own privacy practices apply to the information they process.

8. Data Retention

We keep information only as long as needed for the app's features or for the retention choice you made.

  • Screenshots: May be deleted immediately after processing or retained temporarily during the session, based on your settings.
  • Query history: May be saved only if you enable it.
  • Cached screenshots: May remain until you clear them or end the session.
  • Account records: May remain in Firestore while your account exists or until you request deletion, subject to legal and operational requirements.
  • Purchase and entitlement records: May remain while needed to verify access, restore purchases, and prevent duplicate entitlement grants.
  • Logs: May be retained for a limited time to diagnose crashes and reliability issues.

When data is no longer needed, we delete it or make it inaccessible through normal app operations.

9. Your Controls and Choices

  • Deny microphone or screen capture permissions.
  • Disable voice input.
  • Choose shorter screenshot retention settings.
  • Disable query history or screenshot history, if available.
  • Clear cached screenshots and session data in the app settings.
  • Uninstall the app to remove local app data stored on your device.

10. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect the information we process.

However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You use the app at your own risk, and you should avoid submitting content you do not want processed.

11. Children's Privacy

The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided information to us, contact us at the email below so we can address it.

12. International Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than the one where you live, including countries where our service providers or AI providers operate.

By using the app, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in those locations, subject to applicable law.

If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and may provide additional notice in the app or through another appropriate channel.
